Notre laboratoire étudie l’interface humain-bactéries dans le contexte des organes reproducteurs de femmes cis-genre. Notre expertise a débuté avec la pathogenèse de Staphylococcus aureus (choc toxique menstruel et vaginite aérobique) et la régulation génétique en conditions mimant le tractus vaginal. Nous sommes aussi intéressés aux autres bactéries (et autres microbes), bénéfiques ou pathogènes, jouant un rôle sur la santé féminine et reliées a la fertilité. Plus spécifiquement, nous étudions comment le système reproducteur fournit les nutriments et signaux aux bactéries et comment ces bactéries contrôle l’inflammation au tractus vaginal pour leur avantage.

Our lab works at the interface human-bacteria in the context of cis-gender females’ reproductive organs. We started by studying Staphylococcus aureus pathogenesis (both menstrual toxic shock syndrome and aerobic vaginitis) and gene regulation in conditions mimicking the vaginal tract. We’re also interested in other bacteria, either pathogenic or beneficial, that play a role in women’s health related with fertility. More specifically, we are looking into how the reproductive tract provides nutrients and signals to bacteria and how these bacteria will control inflammation within the tract for their advantage.
